Model Houses

Building model houses required lots of planning. Students made pictures the families they built houses for. Then they drew plans for their houses. Using these plans to build 3D houses required problem solving skills like resizing building materials, and building trusts to support walls and ceilings.

4th grade visual arts standard 3.2.c- Materials and processes can be used in traditional, unique and inventive ways. Students can problem-solve various properties of a variety of tools and materials.

Kindergarten Visual Arts Standard 3.1.b- Invent and Discover to Create: Create two and three-dimensional work of art based on personal relevance. Students can make plans to create works of art.
