Kindergarten clouds:




1. Read or watch "It Looked Like Spilt Milk."
2. Discuss- Do people always see things the same way? What are some things that puddles or clouds can also look like?
3. Use white and gray crayons or oil pastel to draw on blue or gray paper. Draw whatever you want!
4. Paint blue, white, and gray watercolor over your crayon drawings.
5. Sprinkle salt onto the wet paint.
6. Pair up with a partner and discuss what you see in each other's art.
Extension activities:
- Look at, discuss, and interpret abstract expressionism, like paintings byWassilly Kandinsky.
Sunset Abstractions- Dot with different color marker onto coffee filter or printer paper, then use a paint brush to wash water over the dots, blending the colors.

Third Grade, Standard 1. Observe and Learn to Comprehend, Grade Level Expectation: 1. Investigate works of art and design to recognize how to create meaning with purpose and intent. Evidence Outcome: b. Use the language of visual art and design as a tool to help determine artistic intent.
Fourth Grade, Standard 3. Invent and Discover to Create, Grade Level Expectation: 2. Utilize media in traditional and inventive ways to communicate personal intent. Evidence Outcome: c. Prepare works of visual art and design for presentation.
Fifth Grade, Standard 2. Envision and Critique to Reflect, Grade Level Expectation: 1. Using a variety of criteria, question and evaluate works of art. Evidence Outcome: a. Support collaborative dialogue to analyze and evaluate one’s own work and that of others.
Fifth Grade, Standard 3. Invent and Discover to Create, Grade Level Expectation: 1. Plan works of visual art and design where intended meaning is communicated to viewers. Evidence Outcome: b. Discuss with others to determine if intended meaning was effectively communicated. Grade Level Expectation: 2.
