Pokemon Art-Interdisciplinary Connections

4th grade learned how art is often incorporated into other domains of study, like math and literature. Many arts are also a necessary function of cultural events, in this case Pokemon tournaments. They explored these connections through designing their own Pokemon cards, writing biographies describing their characters' attributes, and simple math equations describing attacks for the game.
This project was originally written to teach Colorado State 2020 Standards of Visual Arts for 4th grade:

Fifth Grade, Standard 1. Observe and Learn to Comprehend, Grade Level Expectation:2. Demonstrate an understanding of how works of visual art and design are influenced by the culture of daily life. Evidence Outcome a. Observe and discuss how visual art and design exist in a shared contemporary world.
