Researching other artists' work for inspiration fulfills the following 2020 Colorado State Standards of Visual Arts:
Kindergarten, Standard 4. Relate and Connect to Transfer, Grade Level Expectation: 1. Recognize that artists and designers contribute and connect to their communities. Evidence Outcome a. Identify how and where artists and designers work.
First Grade, Standard 1. Observe and Learn to Comprehend, Grade Level Expectation:1. Investigate how visual art and design tell the many stories of people, places or things.Evidence Outcome c. Demonstrate an understanding that different communities and cultures share their own stories.
Second Grade, Standard 2. Envision and Critique to Reflect, Grade Level Expectation: 1. Share and explain choices made and possible next steps in personal works of visual art and design. Evidence Outcome b. Recognize that artists use different forms of research to inform their practice.
Third Grade, Standard 2. Envision and Critique to Reflect, Grade Level Expectation: 2. Synthesize ideas about personal works of art and imagine possible next steps. Evidence Outcome a. Demonstrate understanding of how research inspires development of ideas.
Fourth Grade, Standard 1. Observe and Learn to Comprehend, Grade Level Expectation: 1. Uncover how artistic intent can be enhanced through the use of the language of visual art and design. Evidence Outcomes a. Hypothesize the steps an artist may have used to complete a work of visual art or design b. Suggest alternative ways an artist could have communicated an idea.
Fifth Grade, Standard 1. Observe and Learn to Comprehend, Grade Level Expectation: 1. Investigate and analyze how specific points of view can be communicated through the language of visual art and design. Evidence Outcome: a. Explore connections between works of art from different cultures through time.
